Running a small business is exciting - but it can also be overwhelming and lonely. Late nights, endless admin, and the constant worry that you might be missing something can quickly take the joy out of being your own boss.
Our founder, Chris Money, knows this first hand. Alongside his career as a Chartered Accountant, he helped his wife run a growing marketing agency. Despite being profitable every month it operated, the stress of juggling clients, their team, as well as the bookkeeping and operations became mentally exhausting. Eventually she stepped away from the business to protect her wellbeing and mental health, and to ease the stress and burnout.
SmartMoney Academy exists to make sure other business owners don't have to reach that breaking point.
Why We Exist
Chris has spent over a decade working with hundreds of small business owners, and the story was always the same.
- Owners under £100k turnover often can't afford full accountancy support.
- They often only outsource the year-end accounts and tax returns.
- Owners spend hours each week handling the bookkeeping, invoicing and general admin.
- Decisions are delayed because the numbers are confusing and unclear.
We created SmartMoney Academy to close that gap.

Meet Our Founder
Chris Money is a Chartered Accountant (CA), Tax Technician (ATT) and an AAT qualified bookkeeper (MAAT(QB)) with over a decade of experience working with growing businesses. He's passionate about giving small business owners the clarity and confidence they need to avoid financial stress and unlock growth.
Having seen first-hand the emotional toll of running a small business, Chris built SmartMoney Academy to be the resource he wished his wife had in those early years.
